This interpretive display, Three Oaks, honors Professor Ralph H. Luebbers (1906 - 2002) as a respected professional engineer who dedicated his entire academic career to the teaching of science University of Missouri, Columbia.

Sawn from the oak trees that once stood outside Luebbers’ home, Three Oaks is designed as a symbol of renewal, longevity, and a reminder to students of the distinguished tradition of professional excellence at UMC. The singular line of color that transects this piece reads as a timeline, representing the successive transitions one experiences throughout life. The additional pieces of artwork that highlight his life with family, students, and using the floor plans from the home that once stood in place of the new building dedicated to his life, the location stands as a place for relaxation and academic inspiration.
